Sherbet

Today my class and I made Sherbet. It was very challenging because there were lots of ingredients that balanced the flavor out, so you had to get it just right. At first, we had to try all the ingredients by themselves so we would know how much we would need. There was icing sugar, baking soda, citric acid, and tartaric acid. Overall this was a very successful day. My group made a very nice Sherbet, It was very tasty.

Special Characters Prayers

Special Characters did prayers this morning. The focus was on advent. Since Christmas is coming, the Catholic community is starting to celebrate the delivery of Jesus. This is a very important celebration in the Catholic community because Christmas marks the day Jesus was born. We all can't wait for Christmas as it is the day Jesus was born!

Potato Guns 2

Today we attempted Potato Guns again. Sometimes they worked but other times they failed. The other time I posted about this we had bad straws and strong potatoes and this time we had strong straws and soft potatoes. I believe it would have worked if we had the best of all the equipment.

Why Celebrities should have more privacy rights.

How would you feel if your phone number was put up on the internet?. What would you do if walking down the road only to find people screaming taking photos of you?. This is one of the scenarios that celebrities go through every day, even if it is on a trip to the pools or a walk with your dog, you will instantly make headlines in a magazine or the news! So how would you feel? What would you do if this happens to you?

There was a case in America when some YouTubers were moving house.
So their house was posted up on the internet for sale.
One week later fans started to go to the YouTubers house
(that they still lived in at the time) and stole things from them,
videoing them privately and posting it on social media!
This got out of hand as they were trespassing, breaking and entering and more!
So what would you do? How would you feel?
This is just one example of an invasion of privacy.

Journalists write what is sold to them.
Say I sold them a story on Taylor Swift and how she died and it was really juicy.
That would write about because it’s unthinkable, it will draw in the super fans in.
Its a cycle, we buy the magazines the place you buy the magazines from buying more of
the brand and the magazines get money, lots and lots of money.

Did you hear that Taylor Swift is pregnant?
Did you know that Oprah and Ellen got into a fight?
Well, these are just some of the headlines that appear in daily magazines.
Like come on these are just hoxes that is not true.
Some things in magazines are true but most of the headlines are luring you into reading them,
it’s like a kid with lollies really.
These uncivilized people make up lies about celebrities to either drag them down or get better ratings! Isn't that astonishing!

This is just wrong. This should not be tolerated! How would you feel to have a total invasion
of privacy? I mean, of course, they are beautiful beings that we may idol and look up to,
but that is still no reason to stalk them and spread rumors about them!
This is all wrong, join me in my fight to earn these miraculous human beings some privacy!

Lately, we have been learning about persuasive writing. This is my persuasive writing, It is about how Calebrities should have more privacy rights.

3-D Shapes

Lately, we have been learning about 3-D shapes. There was a selection of 3-D shapes we could make. I made one cube and one cone. This was really fun because we could decorate them, and we also got to transform them into the shape. This was a really fun project.

Passports

Our school does these really awesome topic activities. it is called a passport. On the passport, there are so many different activities about NZ music month. By the end of next week, we need to have 200 points. I love the Passports they are really fun!!

Potato Guns

Today we made potato guns. All the things we need was potatoes, wooden skewers, and Straws. However, some of our necessities needed to be upgraded because they were not good enough. One, The straws were a very thin plastic and always crinkled when you tried to get the potato in it. So we thought that we could use metal straws. The potatoes were way to hard so we could have boiled them to make it softer. Other than that it was a really fun experiment.

Khan Academy

Mrs. Drummond introduced a new maths game. It was so helpful and it helped me to tackle my decimals in a week. Khan Academy is really helpful and I highly recommend it! Khan Academy has word problems and even videos if you need help. Overall my experience with Khan Academy was 10\10.

St Peters Orchestra

Today St Peters came to our school and performed an orchestra. It was so cool because they performed one of the catchiest theme songs ever! Pink Panther! It was so entertaining and interesting. They explained what all the instruments did and what category they were in. All of these young boys were very talented and awesome at what they did.

Science

Today we did an experiment on how birds get their food. We all split up into groups and started to make a hypothesis. All the equipment we had all had a relation to the meaning of the experiment. We had the gummy worms (that represents worms), pieces of paper (represents leaves) and Skittles (that was just for fun 😎😎) This was all very fun I would so do it again.

Athletics

Today was Athletics. It was a really awesome and successful day for me. I came first in the 800 meters and second in 400 meters. All of my friends did really well and I am so proud of them! After all the field and running events were finished it was time for the relays. The houses Hilliary, Blake, Cowley, and Shepherd. Overall it was a very fun day!

Class Mass

Today we had a class mass. We went and prayed. Father put on a play and taught us about being kind. He told us to be kind to one another and never stay angry at someone. He also asked the people leaving Good Shepherd to stand up, we got thanked and he said we were always welcome.

Science

Today we did some science. It was all about estimating and tallying up the numbers to get the result. We got different blocks an stacked them on top of each other. We tallied up the votes, and the coloured blocks won!!!! Overall this was a really fun experiment.

Marist

Today me and some other year sixs went to Marist for a test day. This means that they test us to see what class we are in. They were very kind about it and we all took it step by step. When we were leaving they gave us a Marist package which had all the requierments that we needed for next year. Over all the day I had at Marist was really awesome and I had a really good time.

Comics

Comics, We have been learning how to structure Comics and how to make them interesting. A man called Mr Drummond came in and showed us. I learnt a lot because he showed us how to make our characters look more realistic. Over all it was really fun!!!

Pedes

In Maths we have been learning on Hump-Back Pedes. We have been learning about them for two days and today had the pleasure of making one with a group and one on my own. Me and my group made a Star-Pede and I made a Dancing Pede! Overall they were really fun to make a really interesting.

All Saints Day

Today was all Saints Day. This morning we had a mass and learnt all about how we are living saints as well! We had a very awesome time learning on how there is life after earth and if you lost a loved one that is where they will be until they go to heaven.

The Pest called Possums

We read a book on Possums. We learnt how they are endangering  New Zealands Native trees and Native animals. Possums origonaly came form Austraila but they are fine there because there are predators that eat them. Unlike New Zealand there are no predators so you can imagine that there are lots of possums. This is a on going problem that won't be fixed unless we do something about it.

Book Review

This is one of the most amazing Graphic Novels I have ever read. The Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang, is one of the most engaging comics you will ever read. It really showed me about Stereotypes and how some people are brought down because of it . Because there are alot of stereotypes and this book showed me oe of them. This story is not like any other fairy tale because this is the reality and I loved it.

Kia Kaha

This is my Kia Kaha. In room 5 we have been learning why we are unique and what makes our class special. We then put them on a shield and decorated them and put them up for all to see!

Prayers

Prayers are getting really fun because we have all come up with a new element to put in prayers. It is called unique intentions. We give the cross to one person and we go around in a circle and say what we like about them. This is really good because it will get their self confidence and its a really nice way to start the day.

Taiga

The Taiga is one of the most interesting biomes (a large platform of land occupied by a habitat) of them all. You may be familiar with the word biome from one of the best games in the world, Minecraft. This is the biome that is a snowy forest with the big white spruse trees with some hemlocks. Some of the animals are Wolverines, bears, Wood peckers and more!

Prodigy is an amazing new maths game that really helps you improve. It really did help me with my decimals and times tables.

Narwhals

Do you know what the unicorn of the sea is? Well it has a horn like a unicorn, It’s a Narwhal!

Narwhals are exotic creatures with smooth silver maktaaq (that means skin), they swim through the ocean with a magestacil horn, like a unicorn! So have you heard of a Narwhal? If you haven't swim along with me and you’ll see just how awesome Narwhals  are.

But Narwhals don’t swim in just any waters, the can be found in the cold ocean waters of Canada, Greenland, Norway and Russia. These waters are perfect for the Narwhals because they have so much blubber it takes up 40% of their mass!

But what do Narwhals eat to give them the knowledge and strength so that half of their brain is awake when the other is asleep! Let's find out. A proper diet of a Narwhal is squid, Greenland halibut, shrimp and flounder this keeps them healthy and strong so they can stay underwater for 29 minutes!

Narwhals are very endangered because people want their magestacle horns. They also have killer whales predators but mainly us humans are the ones who are endangering them. But on the bright side they also reproduce, Female narwhals are pregnant for 14 months and always give birth in spring. Their Calfs 1.5 meters long! Like humans Narwhals can give birth to more than one calf. Narwhals give birth to a calf once every three years.

Narwhals are amazing creatures that we shouldn’t hunt or poach just because we want their beautiful horn for artifacts. because once we wipe out the Narwhals you can never bring them back.

My Class

My class is awesome and very fun. We always make sure that people feel included when they come because the more there is the funer it is!! We do the funest games and the coolest experiments. Room 5 is more than a class it is a family to everyone! And it helps that we have the coolest teacher that relates to everything. Room 5 is THE BEST CLASS EVER!!!!!!!!❤️❤️

Science

On Wednesday my class and I did an awesome science experiment.

We had three tubs of water and put different colours of dye in the tubs, then we got six paper towels and took three of them and wet them, the other three we left them dry. we put the wet ones on the outside of the rims of the tubs but made sure that the ends of the paper towles were dipped in the coloured water. We then did the same but with dry paper towels but insted of putting them on the outside we put them on the inside so we knew which was which.  In conclusion the dry worked better because the water did't have to fight against water.

The Strike

On Thursday all of the primary schools in New Zealand had a strike day, Which is when all the teachers have a day off so they can go and protest. On the Strike day me and some of my friends went to the movies and then we went shopping. I had a really fun day and i'm sure my friends did as well!.

My Teacher

Miss Drummond is an awesome teacher. Her style is very quirky but I love it. She is always coming up with new and fun ways to teach us. She said that teaching is what she loves to do and it was the most fun out of all the jobs she tried. Miss Drummond has an awesome and one-of-a-kind sense of style. I love having Miss Drummond as my teacher, she is awesome. 

Animal Classification

Today we learned about how animals are classified into groups. Animals are either vertebrates (Which means they have a spine) or invertebrates (Which means they don't have a spine).

Invertebrates are animals like jellyfish, crabs, insects and  octopus.
Vertebrates are put into five groups. They are mammals, birds, reptiles, fish and amphibians. Mammals have  fur or hair and give birth to live young. Birds have feathers and lay hard eggs. Reptiles are cold blooded and lay soft eggs. Amphibians breath through their skin and need to keep their skin moist. Fish breath through gills and have fins.

Examples of each type:

Mammals: Monkeys, Lions, Manatee, Pigs, Deer 

Birds: Owl, Ostrich, Eagle, Duck, Rooster

Reptiles: Chameleon, Tortoise, Tuatara, Crocodile, Snake

Amphibians: Frog, Salamander, Caecilian, Axolotl, Newt  

Fish: Stingray, Seahorse, Clown fish, Blobfish, Giant Oar Fish

The school Production: The Toy Shop on Zip Zap Avenue

♩♩♩♩We live at the Toy Shop on Zip Zap Avenue when the shop door locks at night the click clears us to move magically we come alive until the lock is turned then we change back into toys for little girls and boys♩♩♩♩

This is a story of a toy shop that is going under. Until a family of four comes for a look. The two girls Tina and Amy fall in love with all of the toys but two particularly catch their eye. Tina finds a bee called Buzz and swoops it up right at the second, But Amy however is't so lucky and has to ask her father if she can get the Jack-in-the-box when they get home. When the shop closes up Thing 1 and Thing 2 wake up all the toys and party in honor of their friend Buzz the bee as they party things get moved and the shop is not as it was when the shop keeper left. When the family come back for Amy's toy its not there. They soon find that it was just moved and bought the toy and the shop keeper said "sometimes I get the feeling that this shop is magical"!!!.   

Shopping

The weekend is the time for shopping because you have just got your pocket money. The shops I like to go to are Typo, Kiki.k and Kmart. I get about $5 a week from doing lots of chores that involves doing the washing, Cleaning my room, Cleaning the toilet and vacuuming the hall way. This is just what I need after a long day at school to get payed 5 buckeroos.

Walking onto the floor getting ready to do your first trick was nerve racking but existing at the same time wait what was my score? oh wow gold thats the best you can get moving on to all of the apparatus's was so amazing getting two golds and one red 
it was that moment I knew this is what I wanted to do with my life. 

My Dog

My dog is called Mini she is a sisu. Mini is very hyper and very cute she has a squashed up face. She loves to play and have fun, she also likes to cuddle. Mini is the best dog in the world.

On your marks get set go! Running and running up the street and soon down then hearing the roar of support from the school GO MOLLY. Wait I'm coming 1st wow. all I think is keep running keep running and I do until I cross the finish line yes... I WON!

The center pass off is the most important time of the game. It will determine if team mates will get the ball and then lead onto getting a goal. And we did, the goals kept on coming and coming until... We won. We all went wild this would be the first grading game we would have won.

Math's: Roll and Answer

Today in math's we played a game called Roll an Answer. It tests the skills we have learned this year like rounding, place value, addition and subtraction. My group did a board about Times Tables (x🗙) with large numbers.

Soccer

One day there was a soccer tornament. Good Shepherd had three teams to enter two boy teams and one girl team. I was in the Girls team the first five games were amazing we had won them all! I was playing in Striker and midfield, Striker is the person that scores the goals and midfield is the person that defends and also scores goals. When we found out that we got into the finals we were over the moon. We were against a really hard team. In the end we got beaten by one point. The score was 5-6 it was really close but also really fun.

The Storm

I see the howling wind mercilessly blowing.

I smell burnt wood with a hint of fear.

I taste bitterness in my mouth and its not going away.

My First Day At School

Walking past the gates dressed up culottes on hat on. walking in with lulu and seeing my teacher for the first time wow I thought school is cool :(nope): I have been wanting to come for ages because my brother said it really fun and you don't have to do work.Little did I know that that was a lie… the first day was good mainly because we didn't stay for long we stayed for an hour

Day two okay we did a little bit of work that day but nothing that me and my awesome class couldn't handle as the days went on and on I got use to the work and I got use to the class and marked a very important day of my life.

Recount: My Trip to Australia

When we got to our hotel room I was dazzled. Marble floor, massive living room. Wow, I thought, this is the life. Walking out on the balcony was nerve-wracking because I'm afraid of heights but seeing that there was swimming pool got me really excited so... I got in my togs, dragged my mum down the elevator and raced to the swimming pool. But then I heard waves. I looked to my left. No way, I thought, a beach!! Well that's awesome. Waking up to this every morning was a dream. I'm glad that we go back every second year for a family reunion.

The countryside

The countryside was usual enough it had:

A dirt road,a well,an old rusty shed, and a big field with a warped willow tree my family and I had picnics under. My cousins brother and I do what kids do,pretended to push each other into the well,snooping around the wizards shack,jumped into the pond,and took the horses up to the hills to watch the mesmerizing sunset and finding our way back with a old clanky torch.
